Prayer Needs

Yuanhian Li-Hua

Li-Hua Xu is a member of UPC's International Student/Scholar community, and her son, Yuanhian, has cancer.  Doctors found tumors in his liver and chest, and Yuanhian began treatments back in January.  Pray for this family as they navigate all of the medications and doctors' visits.  If you or someone you know would be interested in assisting this family with transportation and/or other needs that arise, email Vivienne Chu, Associate Director of UPC's International Student Ministry, or call 206.524.7301, x628.

Angel Chongluai - Back safely in Myanmar...

UPC ministry partners Michael and Rachel Chongluai recently took their twelve-year-old daughter, Angel, to Singapore for surgery.  She had developed a painful and debilitating bone condition.  The surgery went well, and she is now back in Myanmar with her parents and siblings, doing some physical exercise to help her recovery progress.  UPC’s Urban & Global Missions is seeking your partnership in prayer and in finances for her diagnostic care and prescribed treatment.  If you have questions, please email Jaci Smith.  For more information on the Chongluai family and their ministry, see the September/October 2008 and November/December 2008 issues of the UPC Times.

New Horizons Ministries will be holding trainings on Saturdays, May 9 and 16 from 8:30 am to 5 pm.  Training topics will include street culture, prostitution, chemical abuse, relational counseling, and spiritual formation.  NHM will need many more volunteers for Street Bean Espresso, a coffee shop which will equip youth with job skills, opening later this year.  Whether you are interested in volunteering with NHM or simply want to learn more about youth involved in street culture, this is a great place to start!  Registration fee is $50, and partial scholarships are available.  For more info email Aaron Stroud-Romero or call 206.374.0866, x107.
